My parents made sure our family did everything together. If one of us went for a walk around the lake, all of us went for a walk around the lake, If one us went to town for ice cream, the entire family was going to load up in the truck and go to town for ice cream.
I was able to meet a young man today who to my surprise shared with me some things that bothers him about our generation and those following ours. I was able to spend overall a couple of hours talking to him, I suppose.

The purpose of this post, however, is to give some insights into helping children deal with “ministerial loneliness” – ie, the kind of loneliness that comes because their parents are in the ministry
Multitudes of parents and teachers have observed a bright child academically excel in school and spiritually in his faith for several years and then become mediocre and apathetic in junior and senior high school. More alarming is the weakening of spiritual desire in this same child at about the same stage of life.
I SUPPOSE that most professing Christians are acquainted with the text at the head of this page. The sound of it is probably familiar to your ears, like an old tune. It is likely you have heard it, or read it, talked of it, or quoted it, many a time. Is it not so?
Recently I was sent a link to a YouTube video in which a father was going to teach his son the importance of work. The video certainly catches your attention, as Dad is sitting on a large zero-turn lawnmower about to drive over a large pile of video games, while his son (who looks to be in his late teens or twenties) yells in frustration.

Being close to God is right. Do you want to be close to God? Does it bother you when you are not close to God? When you watch something you shouldn’t watch? When you go someplace you shouldn’t go? When you say something you shouldn’t say? When you treat somebody unfairly?
