When I was growing up I learned about reading ‘ritten and ‘rithmetic in school. Also thrown in were some mechanics, history, social studies, music, woodwork, etc. My dad taught me character, discipline, hard work, farming, and many other lessons.
I often tell people that as a Pastoral Counselor, I am picking up where dad and mom left off. That is, the number one thing that I do as a Pastor, Biblical Counselor, and Marriage Speaker is move people out of a feelings dominated controlled life and into a controlled by the Holy Spirit, Biblical principled driven life. In essence, I am teaching them what they failed to learn as a child.
Multitudes of parents and teachers have observed a bright child academically excel in school and spiritually in his faith for several years and then become mediocre and apathetic in junior and senior high school. More alarming is the weakening of spiritual desire in this same child at about the same stage of life.
I was asked to speak on “The Woman’s Role in the Home”. Let me say right off, I certainly don’t claim to “have arrived” in any of these areas.........the Lord is still chipping away at me. But I would like to share with you what the Lord has laid on my heart in this area of the “Keeper at Home”.

WHY do we not pray? What are the hindrances to prayer? This is not a curious nor trivial question. It goes not only to the whole matter of our praying, but to the whole matter of our religion. Religion is bound to decline when praying is hindered. That which hinders praying, hinders religion. He who is too busy to pray will be too busy to live a holy life.
