Explanation:

Countdown to start when the command was given to rebuild Jerusalem (445 B.C.) 9:25

7 weeks (49 years) building Jerusalem 9:25

Brings us to 396 BC

62 more weeks (434 years) until Messiah the Prince is rejected 9:26

Brings us to 38 AD

Switching from the Hebrew calendar of 360 days to the Roman calendar of 365 days makes it look like the prophecy is a few years off, but it is exactly on the right date. (38AD – 6.7 years = 31AD)

Most historians believe that Jesus was born about 4 BC, Jesus would have been between 33 and 34 years old when the prophecy was supposed to be fulfilled.
