1. Pray earnestly before you go.

Pray for God to guide you where to go and what to say. Pray particularly for the power of the Holy Spirit upon you. Remember, soul winning is a supernatural business and no one can do it without supernatural help.

  1. Great practical and tested wisdom in this piece. I especially think being prayed up before engaging in soul winning is critical. The reality is if you try to engage in the practice of soul winning with a prayer life that is vacant you will get eaten for lunch.

The point about staying on track is also very important. A lot of folks will entertain questions well off the main point which is sharing the clear message of the gospel from the Bible. Just because we have the knowledge to talk about a variety of things from scripture doesn’t mean we should in soul winning. We should be pointing to Christ and controlling the conversation enough to stay focused. Getting off topic normally leads into waters that are unproductive and before you know it a good conversation turns into a debate, argument, or just completely falls apart.

  2. Excellent. If only all Christians would adopt Dr. Rice’s suggestions, daily. Points 1 and 6 particularly good. As D. L. Moody said, “There is no better evangelist in the world than the Holy Spirit.”
